It's annoying as hell, but I can usually keep myself amused by picturing the victimsNPCs clinging for dear life to the oh-shit handles and trying to figure out ways to keep Shepard from driving next time. (...also, I have an unholy fondness for trying to bounce the Mako on its nose.)
Oh yes. I imagined the same thing myself, because I drove the Mako like a drunken sailor and I couldn't picture anyone in their right mind actually getting in the vehicle with my Shep - at least without giving her tons of crap about it.
I really, really like the voice, and that's probably part of it. (Note: not a fangirl.) I think the appeal is that of all the cast, he seems to be the only one who changes as a result of knowing you...much as I like Kaiden's settled adult-ness, I think there's a little more emotional pull in a character whom you can influence. It's a fine line to walk between "needy" and "independent", but I think that's part of the Garrus appeal. (That, and the slight feline vibe which is a lot of fun.)
That is a good point. Although the fact that Kaiden doesn't change due to Shepard is the one thing that I really like about him (and what keeps him from being too similar to Carth). I agree that it's a fine line. It's too bad that they didn't give the romance leads sidequests, because I think a well crafted one would have gone a long way in getting people to emotionally invest in them more. Actually after finding out Kaiden's backstory, I was totally shocked that we didn't get one. I thought for sure we were going to have either the corporate guys that turned him into a biotic or the chick that freaked out on him turn up at some point. I was rather disappointed that they didn't and it seems like a wasted opportunity to me.
