This *has* to be a troll...

I was cruising through the new Games >> Star Wars section over on ff.net and I ran across this little gem: Burning Wounded Love by orligurllchicki.

This story is one of the funniest things I've read in a long, long time. I figure this has to be a troll, because, well, the idea that this is a serious piece is just far too depressing. If it is a troll, then it is a truly brilliant piece of writing...

Some highlights:

[The Exile] was so lightside that her lights meter pulsed with pink hearts dancing around and singing a song. A song [Atton] didn't know the words to, but it was a song that allured him to her cause it was a song he couldnt get out of his head. damn it was a catchy song alright.

and this:

[Atton] took of his gloves and went to go wash his hands, mabye he could come back and touch her, cos he woulnd't mind burnign for her, he already burned, in that special place for her, that specila place that controleld him all the time.

His heart.

I mean really... could someone write this with a straight face?

I think its the Ewoks bit that's just the killer. I mean, on the one hand, there really is some appalling written fic out there, as bad as this, or sometimes worse. On the other hand... looking at the POTC story she did, do people really do that Oh!!1!! thing? It's just a badfic gourmet joke, right? Right?

No, I think its a troll - it gets in a kind of pro-Disciple backhand bitchslap:
excpet that freak Disciple, cos he's werid and poliet and she didn't like her men to be weird stalker people, who were just weird, cause people whe are nice with out agendas r stalkerz.

Yeah, I've seen fics that are extremely bad; as bad as this actually, and it was clear that the author wasn't joking. Luckily, in the small world of Kotor fandom, they are at a minimum. I think that might be because the people who are Star Wars fans tend to run a bit older than in other fandoms.

I've seen some actual fics that do this, and I've also seen reviews that do the OMG!!! UR Asum!111! Plz Wrte More!!!!1111!!!1 thing... I'd like to think that it is all one big internet joke or something, but sadly, every time I've seen it, it looks like the writer is serious...

I did think the "pro-Disciple backhand bitchslap" (that's such a fabulous way of putting it - Heh) has to be intentional. As kosiah pointed out, it's just too clever not to be intentional.

Plus, if the author were serious, we would probably be seeing a bunch of pissing and moaning about how everyone was flaming them when they reviewed the story.

Good point. But seriously, you've got to admit that at least a quarter of your brain cells actually died in the process of reading it. :p

Then again... poor Di. He needs more lovin'. :p
