I love comic books. I think they are the single most underrated literary form (at least in the United States). But I have completely given up on the superhero genre.

People ask me why I almost never read superhero comic books anymore. Here’s a shining example of why: I went to my local comic book store this weekend, to get my monthly fix of Y the Last Man, Fables, and The Waking Dead, when much to my dismay, I saw a huge Marvel promo poster with Jean Grey as dark phoenix on it… Apparently, in one of the multitude of x-books out there, they are yet again re-hashing the whole Dark Phoenix story line.
