Okay not really. You know I love you, but your last book pissed me off. Turn back now if you don't want to be spoiled, in my rant about George RR Martin's fourth book...
God dammit! Where the hell was Tyron? How can you have 684 pages of A Feast For Crows without him?
*deep breath*
Okay, in all seriousness, if I'd been reading along with the books as they were published (and waited five years in between them) I would have been doubly pissed.
Don't get me wrong. I adore this series, but I really do think that the man needs to scale it back some. I mean, damn, he keeps adding characters. It's getting to the point where it's out of control. While I find both the harem of beautiful ninja princesses and the sassy pirate princess interesting reading, it feels like these characters are almost completely superfluous. Personally, I think one of his editors need to say "Dude, I think your stuff is brilliant, George. But let's cut some of this extra shit out, k?"
On the plus side, this series is truly excellent (thanks for the recommendation
kosiah). I really enjoyed the new viewpoints of both Jamie and Brianne (which I forgive - because both of them have been longstanding characters of the series). It just sucks that after speeding through four excellent books, I now have to wait like everyone else to find out what happened to my favorite dwarf. Even worse, I have to wait even longer to find out about what happens to Cersai (hahah evil stupid bitch – so awesome) and Brianne (am I the only person that wants her and Jamie to hook up?).

I think at the very least the editor should have talked him out of cliffhangaring Brienne's and Cersei's fates... although I think Random House expected the next book to be out less than a year after the first, which of course didn't happen.

Agreed about the cliffhangers. Just the idea that I'm going to have to wait another five or six years (or possibly even longer if he splits the books in half again) to find out what the hell happens to them is so depressing.
I think I may have to go back and re-read the series - but that might be too depressing too lol.
At least there's news that Lois Bujold is writing another Vorkosigan book that's supposed to be out in the next year or so. So hopefully I'll get my fix of my other favorite series relatively soonish.

That's good news about Lois Bujold at least...
My theory is once an author gets to a certain level of fame, they either don't listen to their editors or their editors are too intimidated/overworked to bother editing them anymore. Hence the Robert Jordan/ Laurell K Hamilton phenomena -- I hope it's not happening to George, but yeah, I agree, he has waaay too many plotlines.
BTW, he's on my flist if you want to internet stalk him. (I mean I added him, he hasn't added me back or anything...)
