Die in a fire George Martin...

Okay not really. You know I love you, but your last book pissed me off. Turn back now if you don't want to be spoiled, in my rant about George RR Martin's fourth book...

God dammit! Where the hell was Tyron? How can you have 684 pages of A Feast For Crows without him?

*deep breath*

Okay, in all seriousness, if I'd been reading along with the books as they were published (and waited five years in between them) I would have been doubly pissed.

Don't get me wrong. I adore this series, but I really do think that the man needs to scale it back some. I mean, damn, he keeps adding characters. It's getting to the point where it's out of control. While I find both the harem of beautiful ninja princesses and the sassy pirate princess interesting reading, it feels like these characters are almost completely superfluous. Personally, I think one of his editors need to say "Dude, I think your stuff is brilliant, George. But let's cut some of this extra shit out, k?"

On the plus side, this series is truly excellent (thanks for the recommendation [livejournal.com profile] kosiah). I really enjoyed the new viewpoints of both Jamie and Brianne (which I forgive - because both of them have been longstanding characters of the series). It just sucks that after speeding through four excellent books, I now have to wait like everyone else to find out what happened to my favorite dwarf. Even worse, I have to wait even longer to find out about what happens to Cersai (hahah evil stupid bitch – so awesome) and Brianne (am I the only person that wants her and Jamie to hook up?).
