Some World of Warcraft talk. Look away non WoW nerds...

So I've been rather bitter about the latest round of nerfs to the Druid class. After two years of playing the red-headed stepchild class of WoW, we finally got some serious love with the expansion pack - and finally we weren't the suckiest class in the game.

As I figured, this was too good to last. And now, due to a bunch of whiners, we've been hit with the nerf bat after only a month and a half of being fixed. Some had legitimate gripes (warriors did need a buff - but I fail to see why a Druid needs a nerf), but most are a bunch of 14 year old rogue noobs who figure if they can't wtfpwn another class in under five seconds - you must be overpowered.

I realize that nerfs come and go. Classes get new powers and nerfed all the time - but this time it truly blows. We were broken for two freaking years until they finally got around to making us useful and only a month and a half later we're back to our pre expansion uselessness for feral druids. I suspect that the resto and balance trees are next. I guess if they do that, I'm goint to throw in the towel and just level up my lock to 70 because I'm getting really tired of playing the most disrespected, fucked up and misunderstood class in the game.

Honestly, I think this whole thing is driven more by market economics rather than any desire to balance the game. Druids are by far the least played class in the game. Warriors and rogues are two of the most played (warriors alone outnumber us at least four to one). And let's face it, Blizzard is a company and the thing they are most concerned with is their bottom line.

But this video made by the dudes that did the illegal danish stuff, almost makes the nerf worth it.

Jack of all trades classes can suck that way. I don't know if this is cheerier, but I'd think it's more likely a developer miscalculation than a nerf due to other classes whining. That's the way of MMoRPGs. And they'll prob fine tune and adjust. Keep reporting the bugs, but don't buy into the "omg warriors and rogues u suxors" mantra on the boards... (I checked the WoW forums because I haven't played in so long I didn't know you were nerfed and feel sort of caught up...so they nerfed your tanking and melee dps, right? But item-wise you guys have more than you need, which is actually probably sucky, because that makes it boring.)

My other rah rah cheer up mantra (and remember, I barely know what druids do, so you can feel free to disregard this), is that there's a power in being an underclass. Like... not being totally needed for raiding? Not always a bad thing!! Gear, schmear, your guild will love you anyways because you are you, and in the end, the underdog usually comes out okay. Your class being rare IS an asset, because when they do need you, there's your time in the sun. Ask Meg about EQ and and ranjo0rs... poor rangers.

And... moonkin is cool. Moonkin is pretty much the coolest thing I have ever seen. That alone should be a comfort.

One of the most annoying things about Mmorpgs are the people in them. Actually scratch that "one of." No, the people in them are definitely the most annoying thing. People gravitate to the least amount of work. They scream and whine when they don't get the sparkliest sword of zap handed to them on a silver platter. They think they're entitled to be gods because they pay $15/month. Have you heard about the whole, "I should be able to run my botting program because I am a paying subscriber" argument? Headdesk, headdesk, headdesk.

Okay, now I think I have talked myself out of logging into WoW this week. Or trying Vanguard. Hah! Thanks, pris!

Now you know how I felt when they nerfed lock dots. :P I bitched about it a lot then, but fast forward to now: I'm outcritting and outnuking mages and pretty much out-damaging everybody except for the occasional rogue. I synergize so well with a shadow priest it's not even funny. My solo efficiency is still fine. I don't know about the PvP situation for my class, but what the hell, I don't PvP. In Karazhan, it's practically required to bring along a lock for the Shade of Aran encounter (preferably two), Wizard of Oz, and the Curator. I'm not worried about not being wanted in raids anymore.

So while the nerfs seem pretty severe, I doubt in practice it'll be that bad in the long run. There'll probably be adjustments before it goes live, even.

I feel sad that I have no idea what you guys are talking about. XP

I have considered getting into WoW, but I tend to lose interest real fast in MMORPGs.

I don't know what you're talking about, but is it dirty if I had a nerdgasm over it?

You will always pwn teh_1nt3rn3tz - especially if you're a giant chicken.

Eh...not to diminish your grief, but this is exactly how I felt when they "revised" the Shaman. Class got reduced to a healbot, so I do share your nerf pain. I even heard that a few days ago the priests and druids of WoW were on strike because of this.(no, seriously).

On the other hand; mages are getting teh lurve right now, seems Blizz decided it was time for us to be top-DPSers again.
