Joss Wheadon is writing and directing a Wonder Woman movie.

*insert squeals of delight here*

I had pretty much given up on this film project a while back when I read that Sandra Bullock and Jennifer Lopez were up for the Wonder Woman part (which is so wrong, for so many reasons).

I have been a Wonder Woman fan ever since I was a little kid. I loved the TV show and I also loved the comic books, and yes, I had the Wonder Woman underoos. While both the TV show and the comic books were amazingly campy, and probably wouldn't hold up so well now that I'm an adult, they were a wonderful influence on a six-year old-kid. The lessons of the comic book were especially excellent, mainly that you don't need a man to do things for you and you shouldn't wait for around for a man to come and save you. Sure the feminist bits were ham handed, and when you look back there is a strange sexual subtext (Wonder Woman is always getting chained up), but hey, it was perfect for little kids, especialy little girls.

It just seems like a lot of writers don't understand what makes Princess Diana cool...but I have to believe that if anyone can make Wonder Woman into an interesting, ass kicking heroine, it's Joss Wheadon. If he makes this movie good, then maybe I can forgive him for the last three seasons of Buffy and the last season of Angel...

Heh. Wonder Woman. The first impression I had of her when I was still a tiny little mite was, "Wow, big hair!" :p It'd be nice to actually see the movie now. Rumours went on and on for so long I got fed up with it. Sandra Bullock and J.Lo? Really bad choices. Maybe not for J.Lo, since she did plastic surgery to enlarge her ass...

I thought they were going to cast Jennifer Anniston?

Jennifer Anniston? Okay, no, that's a joke?

Then again, if anyone could pull that off, Joss could...casting against type can be brilliant, when it doesn't totally suck.

Charisma Carpenter might be an interesting choice, she has the right look for the part.

I loved Wonder Woman too, Pris. Her and Isis, Isis, Isis...

And I had the underoos and the action figure. Am I remembering wrong or was she like, a secretary in her "cover" job. Or a reporter? Hm, it's all hazy. I want to think secretary, and I want Joss to keep that in, and not make her a high-powered executive, which would be the obvious in more clumsy hands.

Yeah, she was always getting chained up and then saved by her manacles. (Um, I mean "bracelets") What were they called again?

I can hear google calling...

It's not a joke. I saw her in this mag and she was wearing the WG costume. Imagine my reaction.

O.O;;;

I could totally see her... much more than Jennifer Anniston, JLo or Sandra Bullock. I don't think they've cast the movie as of yet though... the only thing I've seen for sure is Joss being signed.

You know, I don't remember. I thing she might have worked at a military base or something, because isn't that where her love interest, Stever Trevor, worked? I might be confusing that with the comics from the forties. All I remember is that she wore an absolutely enormous pair of glasses (the early eighties kind that cover half of your face).

Wonder Woman as a secretary would be really interesting...

I don't remember but in the comic books, Hercules came to Paradise Island and enslaved all of the Amazons. Eventually the Amazons broke free, rebelled and kicked Hercules off the island, but they kept the manacles to remind them of the oppression of men. She often used them to deflect bullets.

And that's why I love the Amazons and Wonder Woman. How sweet is that?

that's very cool.

Wonder Woman site (http://wonder-woman.fanspace.com/)

Show ran from 76-79...No wonder it's etched in my brain. Formative years. I think we used to play "Wonder Woman" too. Was there ever a bionic woman/man cross-over? I guess probably not, since the timelines would have different...were they on competing networks?

Okay, I need to go outside or something.

wow, I need to get out more

Wonder Woman? Oh, I loved her back in the 70's! My mom let me stay up and everything.

And my gods...Kos, I barely remember Isis, but I used to jump on the couch when she came on TV!

and when you look back there is a strange sexual subtext (Wonder Woman is always getting chained up)

That's probably because one of Wonder Woman's original creators (http://www.rotten.com/library/bio/mad-science/william_marston/) was involved in a long-term BDSM threesome with his wife and another woman who was their sub.

I'd like to see either Lucy Lawless play Wonder Woman (the black hair, the blue eyes, and the experience in being campy), or the girl who played the Villain in Sky High.
