I have finally discovered the tv show Supernatural. After watching all four seasons in the last month and a half, I have come to the conclusion that it totally kicks ass.

Cut for Pris gushing about her new favorite tv show and how it's better than Buffy the Vampire Slayer. )

Our television died last night. I'm guessing that it got tired of showing political coverage and committed seppuku. I can't say that I blame it.

Normally my husband and I would be happy since this would give us an excuse to buy a flat screen. But since it's quite likely that Tom's going to get laid off next month (again...gah), dropping a bunch of money on a brand new toy would probably be unwise. So we've decided to wait a few weeks and see if we like living without television.

This should be an entertaining experiment, since I haven't lived without a television since college.

I have to say that it's about freaking time Battlestar Galactica started up again, because television was looking mighty bleak for awhile there. Although I have to admit that's because I have a low tolerance and have given up on so many shows that I used to enjoy (Smallville, Heroes, Lost). The only other show I watch anymore on a semi-regular basis is Reaper, which if you're not watching, you're totally missing out because it's pretty hilarious.

Anyway, back to Battlestar Galactica and some things I really want to see this season, because as you all know, it's all about me. Cut for BSG Spoilers. )

On Wednesday, two of the most awesome things in the world collided, World of Warcraft and South Park, and it was freaking hilarious.

For those of you who missed the awesome, follow the links below.

Part One, Part Two, and Part Three.

What totally kills me is how accurate this is (really, it's almost scary rofl). I think it's pretty clear that they play WoW. The only thing that sucks is that Horde side is nowhere in sight, but as someone pointed out on the message boards, there's going to be a whole new wave of n00bs and they're all going to roll Alliance because of this.

I'm such a freaking nerd that I was watching this and playing in a 40 man raid at the same time. I was laughing so hard that I ended up letting my tank die.

Best part? The dude that was idle and reading a playboy magazine. Freaking priceless.

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] noneko and [livejournal.com profile] cavortingmonkey...

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5. Don’t you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

I had three books piled on top of my monitor, so I picked the most entertaining quote of the three:

"I have your permission to come out?"

"Yup," I said, "For the purposes of this mission only. And don't waste time prowling around in women's locker rooms again."

Incidentally, the above quote comes from the book Grave Peril by Jim Butcher (it's the third book in the Dresden Files series). If you're a fan of the modern fantasy genre in the spirit of Buffy the Vampire Slayer or the first three non sucky Anita Blake books, I'd highly suggest checking the books in the Dresden Files out. It's a series about a wizard named Harry who lives in Chicago and kicks a ton of ass. It's kind of what the Anita Blake novels should have been. The main character is very entertaining, and the author does a good job integrating fantasy elements into modern day fiction.

Jim Butcher is like the anti-Laurel Hamilton. Everything that she does wrong in her books, he does right. Go read him. I'm currently re-reading the series, and it's just as good the second time through.

Also, for those of you too lazy to actually read the books, a series based on the books is coming out on the sci-fi channel in January 2007. If they do as good of a job on this series as they did on the new Battlestar Galactica, it's going to be awesome.
